Session Format and Confidentiality

When you book your first appointment, you will be able to access and fill out the intake form which outlines all important notes before meeting with me for the first time. This includes a detailed account of confidentiality and its limits. All information disclosed during sessions, and information collected during and outside of sessions are kept private and confidential unless there is serious concern for your safety or the safety of others. If I ever have to "break confidentiality", you will know about it. We will have a conversation about what this means and what it might look like before I disclose anything to anyone.

In the initial 30-minute consultation, we will be able to meet virtually, introduce ourselves, and ask each other some starting questions to see if we may be a good fit for working together.

We will then spend the first few sessions really getting to know each other and figuring out together how to format our sessions so you can get the most out of each meeting. We will then hone in on some goals for therapy as well as "life-worth-living goals" which will become the backbone of the rest of the therapy journey, keeping in mind that goals are fluid and can change.

Then it is up to us to share stories and ideas in the therapy space and embark on creative experiments to learn more about ourselves and how we fit in the world around us.

In maintaining transparency and respect for my clients, if at any point I feel like I am no longer an effective therapist or am not the most effective therapist for what you need, I may discuss referrals with you.
